Four students received DCSLL Scholarships for 2016

Scholarship Recipients
The Dominica Co-operative Societies League began its scholarship programme in 1986. One scholarship was awarded to a student based on merit. This scholarship was named after a credit union pioneer, Mr. Joffrey Robinson. To date, the league has awarded (30) full scholarships based on merit.

The DCSLL continues to place strong emphasis in the area of education, hence the introduction of a second scholarship in 1994, the sister Alicia Jubilee scholarship based on need. Sr. Alicia was the founder of the credit union movement in Dominica. To date twenty-three (23) full scholarships have been awarded based on need. Last year Kelsey Walsh of the St. Martin Primary School, was the league’s awardee for the Joffre Robinson scholarship based on merit and Andrina Thomas of the Sineku Primary School was the league’s awardee of the Sister Alicia scholarship based on need.

Our 2016 Joffre Robinson merit scholarship has been awarded to Sharissa George and our Sister Alicia need scholarship has been awarded to Orladine Dinnard. The management of the league through divine intervention has added two additional scholarships based on need, to Jahlem Euzebe and Joshua St. Jean. We would like to take the opportunity to thank the management of the league and the education committee for this timely intervention.

Despite the economic challenges, the league is able to set aside fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.), annually for the development of young minds. Presently the league is servicing 10 full scholarships and two partial scholarships.
