3rd Credit Union Youth Summit in Dominica

3rd Youth SummitIt is my distinct pleasure to welcome everyone to our 3rd Credit Union Youth Summit, under the Theme, “Volunteerism the Way to Go”.

It is a well researched position that greater developmental progress is made when persons work co-operatively.  It is in this regard that the DCSL has undertaken to plan this annual youth summit to provide a forum for some of our youth to network, learn new concepts, share ideas, their hopes and aspirations in an environment designed to encourage the same.

Today nineteen (19) young co-operators from around the island are here on the mountain to participate in the third (3) Credit Union Youth Summit. Today is a great day for the Movement in Dominica.  This effort is expected to address the critical areas of the number and quality of volunteers available to the various societies nationally, thereby ensuring the continued development of the various co-operative societies.

We encourage all societies and institutions of learning to invest in the youth within their area and recognize the significant investment that is made when young people participate in this summit.  We encourage our young people to share with their peers the experiences gained this weekend.

Special thanks to the President of the League Mr. Murphy Wallace, the League’s Manager, Mr. Aaron Dalrymple, the Registrar of Co-operatives, Ms. Mariette Canoville, our Field Officer, Mr. Julien Brewster, the facilitators of the various sessions, the media houses who have accepted the responsibility to disseminate the positive contributions of our young co-operators and our young people for accepting the challenge to participate in our programme.

We at the League are promising a bigger and better summit in 2017.
