The first ever Youth forum was convened as part of the 10th OECS Credit Union Summit held in Dominica in 2011.  This effort proved to be very successful and was welcomed by all who participated.  It was felt that the forum or gathering of youth should be an annual event.  Equipped with this justification, the first ever youth summit was organized and held in Dominica last year.  Thirty two (32) young cooperators (including two (2) participants from Curacao) gathered on the mountain to reflect on the Theme, “Youth Empowerment in Co-operatives”.  At the end of the summit participants were overwhelming in their recommendation that the League should continue to have such forms.

This year’s summit is being held under the theme “Encouraging Youth Volunteerism”. Addressing the young people during the opening ceremony, Aaron Dalrymple, Manager of the Credit Union League said The Credit Union was built upon the philosophy of “People helping People”.
